PROFILO DELL’OPERA / ABSTRACT
L’autocostruzione in architettura oggi è una realtà che appare di forte attualità: da un lato per la necessità di nuove prospettive di fronte alla crisi economica imperante; dall’altro per l’emersione di ampie aree del nostro pianeta un tempo “sottosviluppate” con le loro necessità costruttive; infine, per lo spirito coinvolgente di una sensibilità verso una filosofia più equilibrata dell’atto costruttivo. Può l’autocostruzione in architettura essere una risorsa per lo sviluppo di una disciplina che mai come in questi anni sembra ad un “giro di boa”? Il primo workshop internazionale SELF MADE ARCHITECTURE 01 ha avuto l’obiettivo di cominciare un cantiere teorico-pratico che continuerà nel tempo con eventi legati ad un unico filo conduttore. Questo primo evento mira al raffronto sincronico di tre esperienze differenti, tutte legate al tema dell’autocostruzione. Tre cantieri sincronici, tre tradizioni a confronto, in cui i partecipanti apprendono a progettare e costruire... forse... il futuro.
In architecture today, self-construction is an evident reality: on one side, the need for new prospectives to face the current economic crisis; on the other side, the emergence of “underdeveloped” areas with the demand for construction; and finally, for the engaging spirit and sensitivity towards a more balanced philosophy which is adapted to construction. Could self-made architecture be a resource for the development of a discipline that has never before been considered a turning point? The first international workshop SELF MADE ARCHITECTURE 01 had the objective of starting theoretical and practical research which will continue with future events connected by a single thread. This first event faces the comparison of three different experiences, all linked through self-made. Three synchronized worksites, three traditional techniques, where the participants learn to design and build what could become the future.

Nicola Parisi. Architetto. Professore Associato in Composizione Architettonica e Urbana al Politecnico di Bari. Dottorato in Progettazione Architettonica per i Paesi del Mediterraneo. Studioso dell’opera di Mimar Sinan, maestro dell’architettura ottomana. Ricercatore nel campo del rapporto tra forma architettonica e tecniche della costruzione. Direttore del FabLab POLIBA, laboratorio sulla fabbricazione digitale nell’area metropolitana di Bari.
Nicola Parisi is an architect and Associate Professor of Architectural and Urban Design at the Polytechnic University of Bari. He holds a PhD in Architectural Design for Mediterranean Countries. He is a scholar of the work of Mimar Sinan, the master of Ottoman architecture, and a researcher in the field of the relationship between architectural form and construction techniques. He is the Director of FabLab POLIBA, a digital fabrication laboratory serving the metropolitan area of Bari.
